LONG POST • Earlier this week my youngest turned two. (😭) These photos were taken at 38 weeks pregnant, 3 days postpartum and 2 years postpartum. Being a busy mom, one of the questions I get asked the most is “how”. • “How do you balance it?” “How do you find time to workout?” “How do you stick with your diet?” • So I thought I would try and answer these questions as best I can. • First, find a gym with childcare. This is the biggest one for me. Find a place that your kids love to be and where you trust that your kids are looked after. I’m a stay at home mom and realize my kids need to get out of the house and burn off some crazy. Being able to drop them off for play is a great reason to just show up to the gym. Trusting the people they are with allows me to not stress and focus solely on my workout. • Another [not really tip but needs to be said] is that you need to make it a priority. Life gets busy, but you make time for what you make a priority. It’s easy to make excuses, but if it’s a goal that you want to actively peruse, you’ll need to sacrifice time elsewhere. There are 168 hours in a week, giving a few hours of it to working out is definitely possible. • Eating healthy... try to eat healthy as much as possible, but 🍩 and🍕 are my thing, so it’s about finding balance. No, my kids don’t always eat their veggies, but that doesn’t stop me from making them. If I can find a recipe for a healthy casserole, that’s a life saver because prepping and freezing makes life easier. And meal preps normally get done at nap time so that I’m not chasing kids while cooking. Or when my husband is home. • And that’s that. As parents it’s easy to forget about ourselves because we are so wrapped up in these tiny adorable humans. Not only that, but we’re lead to believe that any focus on ourself means we are not doing a good job as a parent, which causes a lot of guilt. I believe when we take care of ourselves, we are better able to take care of others.
